CHAMONIX, FRANCE

PRETTY MASSIF

By Prapti

#The Aiguille du Midi is one of dozens of peaks in the Mont Blanc massif-its name translates as ‘noon(or middle) needle’

I was in Chamonix with a friend and was so excited to get out and hike. We rose early to take the cable car to the Plan de I’Aigulle at 2,300m. we eventually returned to this point to start our spectacular walk back down to town, but note before taking the second leg off the cable car journey up the mountain; this brought us up and over the Les Pelerins glaciers to the north face of Aiguille du Midi. That’s where I took this photo, while we watched climbers head straight out on to the ice to tackle the ascent towards Mont Blanc. On a clear day, at this elevation of 3,842m, the view of the Alps is unbeatable.” Bronwen Gregory is from Texas, USA, and worked as and adventure travel guide for 13 years.

MOSCOW, RUSSIA

GOLDEN OLDIES

by Prapti

# The five-domed Assumption Cathedral was the burial place of the heads of the Russian Orthodox Church from the 1320s to 1700

This picture was taken at the end of a short audio tour of the Ivan the Great Bell Tower in Moscow, on the second day of my Trans Mongolian train adventure-a journey I had dreamt about for years. It was my first trip to Russia and I didn’t really know what to expect. That day, the bleakness of the weather meant I was slightly miserable, but the view really blew my mind, I remember standing at the top of the tower feeling the harsh, cold wind on my face and being taken aback by the peaceful view of the rooftops, which seemed to pop out despite the grey, moody weather.” Mei-Kuen Tsui lives in London her favourite part of the trip was staying in a ger (yurt) in Mongolia.

YOHO NATIONAL PARK, CANADA

WATER COLOURS

By Prapti

#Emerald Lake is the Largest lake in Yoho National Park-its water takes on a turquoise colour caused by limestone sediment.

One of the aims of our trip driving through British Columbia was to try to find the beautiful turquoise lake in the Rockies that I remembered from a childhood holiday more than 35 years ago. We looked high and low for it. I am not really sure that Emerald Lake was the place I remembered in the end, but it did impress us with its vivid colour, mesmerising reflections and forest walks. Before the crowds descended, I found the right spot down on the edge of the lake to capture my shot. For me, this photo encapsulates the laid-back, great outdoors thrill and beauty of a Canadian holiday, with lake and forest just begging to be explored. I am reminded of both journeys to Canada, the same yet different; one with the freshness and novelty of youth, the other more appreciative of the beauty of the landscape.” David McTernan went to Canada with his wife and took almost the same trip as he did with his parents.
